The video was recorded in eastern Poland, near the meeting point of the borders with Ukraine and Belarus. The border of our country, almost visible over the horizon, is also the eastern border of the European Union and NATO. There is an idyllic atmosphere in our farm fields, the grain is slowly ripening and the farmers are preparing for the harvest. In Ukraine, we see burning fields, tanks and thick smoke in the background. Although we may feel safe in Poland and are not experiencing the direct effects of the war, it takes place several hundred kilometers away. When faced with these facts, as an audience, we might ask ourselves where the titular thieves are. Was someone trespassing on the field, or was it the recording camera trap that was only switched on by accident?

Film został nagrany we wschodniej Polsce, niedaleko miejsca styku granic z Ukrainą i Białorusią. Niemal widoczna za horyzontem rubież naszego kraju jest jednocześnie wschodnią granicą Unii Europejskiej i NATO. Na naszych polach uprawnych panuje sielankowy nastrój, zboże powoli dojrzewa, rolnicy przygotowują się do żniw. W Ukrainie widzimy płonące pola, w tle czołgi i gęsty dym. Choć w Polsce możemy czuć się bezpiecznie i nie doświadczamy bezpośrednich skutków wojny, to ma ona miejsce kilkaset kilometrów dalej. Wobec tych faktów, jako widzowie możemy zadać sobie pytanie o to  gdzie znajdują się tytułowi złodzieje. Czy ktoś wtargnął na pole, czy może to nagrywająca kamera-pułapka została włączona jedynie przez przypadek.
