A photographic self-portrait is a frame taken from the future. In the photo I am standing with my back to the camera, on the exposed back you can see an imitation of a tattoo covering almost the entire surface of the back. The tattoo shows the inscription “Macbeth aweary of the sun” – “Macbeth weary of the sun”. This is a quote taken from Emil Cioran’s book Outline of Decomposition. In the background is a desert landscape in full sun. In the second photo, I am standing in the same place, facing the camera. On the chest we can see the “tattooed” inscription I hate sun. The work is a portrait of the last man, the last creature on Earth. According to Cioran, death does not begin with physiological processes, but with the feeling of disgust towards false hope and illusion, which he compares to the first ray of the sun giving warmth. Macbeth’s sun-weariness, as the last representative of living forms of life, is an expression of rebellion and freedom against death and the meaninglessness of life. At the same time, it is a perfect expression of the tragedy of this situation. Emil Cioran wrote about man’s rage at the world and his helplessness at the same time. We are furious that we cannot be gods, supermen, we cannot change anything. We are left with self-destruction as the only manifestation of freedom.

Fotograficzny autoportret jest kadrem wyjętym z przyszłości. Na fotografii stoję tyłem do obiektywu, na odsłoniętych plecach widać imitację tatuażu pokrywającego niemal całą powierzchnię pleców. Tatuaż przedstawia napis o treści „Makbet aweary of the sun” – „Makbet znużony słońcem”. Jest to cytat zaczerpnięty z książki Emila Ciorana Zarys rozkładu. W tle znajduje się pejzaż pustyni w pełnym słońcu. Na drugiej fotografii stoję w tym samym miejscu, przodem do obiektywu. Na klatce piersiowej widzimy „wytatuowany” napis I hate sun. Praca jest portretem ostatniego człowieka, ostatniego stworzenia na Ziemi. Według Ciorana śmierć nie zaczyna się od procesów fizjologicznych, ale od uczucia wstrętu do złudnej nadziei i iluzji, które porównuje do pierwszego promienia słońca dającego ciepło. Znużenie słońcem Makbeta, jako ostatniego przedstawiciela żyjących form życia jest wyrazem buntu i wolności wobec śmierci i bezsensu życia. Jednocześnie doskonałym wyrazem tragiczności tej sytuacji. Emil Cioran pisał o wściekłości człowieka na świat, przy jednoczesnej jego bezradności. Jesteśmy wściekli, że nie możemy być bogami, nadludźmi, nie możemy nic zmienić. Pozostaje nam jedynie autodestrukcja jako jedyny objaw wolności.
